The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) has issued thousands of takedown notices, challenging Spotify’s use of protected works. While major publishers are negotiating direct deals, independent songwriters and smaller publishers are pushing back. This could mean delays for remix tools, but it also signals potential new licensing opportunities for indie artists.
